With the evenings drawing in and the days getting a little chillier what better way to get prepared to beat the winter blues than book some winter sun for the family! Here we have listed our top 10 winter sun destinations! Let us know where you are off to this winter!!

 

1. Fuerteventura 

The Canaries are dubbed the 'Islands of Eternal Spring', meaning you can look forward to high temperatures and little rainfall during the winter monthsFuerteventura is just over 100km from Africa, and being so close to the Sahara Desert means it enjoys warmer weather all year round.With the flight only four hours and twenty minutes its perfect for winter sun on a budget or if long distance flights aren't your thing!

 

2. Cape Town 

In Cape Town temperatures peak between October and April making it the perfect place to visit over the colder months.The hottest month in Cape Town is February with temperatures on average around 23 degrees. Cape Town is the perfect place to go if you like to explore! Take a trip to Cape Point and stop of at Boulders Beach on the way where you can see many African penguins. Check out the beaches at Camps Bay and Clifton or take a trip through the green valleys of the Cape Winelands, there is plenty to see and do for all the family. And of course no visit would be complete without a trip to the top of Table Mountain! With a flight time of eleven and a half hours its a little far but defiantly worth it!

 

3. Egypt 

The best time to visit Egypt for the weather is between October and April however this is peak season so it is important to plan ahead if you are planning any day trips! With a flight time of only five and a half hours it is perfect for some winter sun! 4. Dubai 

The best time to visit Dubai is from November to March. Weather-wise, Dubai really only experiences two seasons: hot and hotter. There is so much to do in Dubai! Spend your mornings along Jumeirah Beach and your afternoons at Ski Dubai. Visit the Burj Khalifa and take an Abra (water taxi) down the Dubai Creek. There's also plenty of day trips to be had-take a land rover safari through the dessert and spend the evening learning to sand-board and belly dance! With the flight time only seven hours its ideal for the whole family!

 

5. Dominican Republic 

Thanks to the Dominican Republic's location in the tropical Caribbean Ocean, it is always warm in the region. Average afternoon highs are around 28°C. The Dominican Republic is a nine hour flight but once you're there you can experience breath taking beaches, excellent family resorts and golfing! Hire a boat and sail around the island or visit one of the many waterfalls on an organised tour!

 

6. Antigua

Antigua is the perfect place for a relaxing beach holiday! With temperatures around 30°C most days its ideal for some much needed winter sun! Antigua has 365 stunning beaches to chose from so you will never be lost for choice! You can also experience historic sites, tasty cuisine and a lively cultural scene. So if you tire from the beach there is plenty to keep the family busy. The flight time to Antigua is around eight hours.

 

7. Kenya

 

The dry season in Kenya is typically from mid June to October and December to March. These are also the best times to see all the wildlife in action. If you have never visited Kenya before we thoroughly recommend you do. Spend your days searching for the Big 5 on safari and then hit the beach for your remaining few days before you head home. With a flight time of nearly nine hours it is certainly worth it in our opinion!. 

8. Aruba

Aruba has recently become well known for the Renaissance Private Island Flamingo Beach! The kids will love swimming alongside these colourful birds while you relax on the sun lounger! Aruba is also home to some of the best wreck diving in the Caribbean so worth the nine hour flight time if diving is your thing! 

 

9. Thailand

Thailand experiences a dry season between November and April so over the winter months it is the perfect place to visit. There is so much to see and do in this country from visiting the Golden Triangle which is where the Mekong River meets the Ruak River and where Burma/Myanmar, Laos and Thailand all meet to visiting the Elephant Nature park where they rehabilitate and rescue elephants. You can also visit some of the floating markets and take a boat trip to visit some of the most breath taking beaches in the world. Flight time is just under eleven and a half hours but it is a holiday to remember so well worth it!

 

10. Morocco 

Generally Morocco has a tropical climate with highs around 35°C. Visit the Atlas Mountains or some of the Souks in Marrakesh, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy! Including Quad biking and camel riding for the kids! With a flight time of around five hours its a perfect short haul getaway.
